(Updated Friday 8/31) City of Seattle Partial Data Center Shutdown – Anticipated Impacts to Online Applications

City of Seattle Partial Data Center Shutdown
Anticipated Impacts to Online Applications

Updated as of August 31, 2012

Timeline
Recent work on the electrical system has increased alternate power to the data center, lessening the impacts on the City’s online applications. The electrical maintenance work on the Data Center’s primary power source will proceed as planned, beginning the afternoon of Friday, August 31, and lasting until Monday, September 3.

System Availability
While we are planning for most City online services to be available during maintenance work, users should be aware that system maintenance could have unanticipated effects on system availability. We encourage you to conduct transactions before Friday evening if possible, and check this blog for the latest updates.

Unavailable Services
Neighborhood Service Centers will be closed Saturday, September 1, except Central Neighborhood Service Center, which will be open for cable bill customers.

Customer Service Bureau
Customer Service Bureau staff will answer questions about service impacts during the weekend. They can be reached at 684-CITY (684-2489). Phones will be staffed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, Sunday, Sept. 2, and Monday, Sept. 3. Messages left outside of those times during the holiday weekend will be monitored by staff supporting the maintenance work.
